Delinquent Child Support and Vehicle Registration Denials in Texas

Yes, in Texas your vehicle registration renewal can be denied if you have not paid child support in six months.  The OAG’s office can request the DMV to deny registration if a parent is six months behind on their child support payments. Typically, the non-custodial parent receives notice from the OAG and the DMV. This notice informs them of the upcoming registration denial. After notice, the registration is denied at the time of renewal. The parent then has few options. They would either have to make the payment, or negotiate a smaller payment with the DMV.

At GK Law, we have assisted clients in getting their life back within 48 hours of receiving a denial of registration.
