Folake B. Johnson, J.D., MBA, CPA
Associate Attorney
Folake B. Johnson is an attorney and Certified Public Accountant whose practice sits at the intersection of business and real estate litigation and transactional work for emerging companies. Before entering the practice of law, Folake spent more than fifteen years as a real estate finance executive, giving her legal clients an unusual combination of courtroom advocacy and deal fluency.
As a practicing attorney, Folake manages an active litigation caseload, providing strategic case analysis and evaluation and driving matters through every phase of dispute resolution. Folake also brings federal litigation experience through a clerkship with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, supporting Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the Criminal Fraud Section.
For more than fifteen years at a leading global real estate firm, Folake rose from Project Accountant to Senior Controller, overseeing the financial reporting of large real estate portfolios and a combined $900 million debt portfolio supported by a $150 million annual operating budget. Folake managed simultaneous property acquisitions and dispositions for complex M&A transactions while serving as the primary liaison to private equity investors and institutional lenders throughout due diligence and funding.
Folake earned a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston (2025), graduating with a Transactional Skills Certificate and a Pro Bono Honors Program Certificate while serving as an Associate Editor of both the South Texas Law Review and the Journal of International Economic Law. Folake also holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Ilorin. Folake is licensed as both an attorney in Texas and a Certified Public Accountant.

Folake’s law school honors include Dean’s List recognition, selection as a Presidential Fellow, and three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for earning the highest grade in Legal Research & Writing I, Professional Responsibility, and Transactional Skills—Real Estate. Folake was also a member of Phi Delta Phi, the Tax Law Society, and Beta Gamma Sigma. Folake is the author of “Strengthening Investor Protection from Corporate Fraud by Promoting Proper Evidentiary Standards for the Whistleblower Employee,” published in the South Texas Law Review (Winter 2026).
